This Girl is Different

This Girl is Different by JJ Johnson follows Evie a girl who starts regular school after being homeschooled for the first seventeen years of her life.  Evie sticks out in her new school as she challenges her teachers and administration.  After seeing the gym teacher put down a cheerleader because of her weight Evie starts a website to call her out and things spiral out of control.

This was a fairly forgettable book that was entertaining enough.  It reminded me of one of those movies that you watch on the ABC family channel that's entertaining and laughable at the same time.  It's certainly not a must read but it was entertaining, short and I finished it quickly because I wanted to know what would happen next.

Appropriateness: There are a few discussions about sex and some heavy petting but no sex (she even talks with her mom about sex who gives her some good advice).  There is not substance abuse.  I would recommend this book to teens 13+
