Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac

Memoirs of a Teenage Amnesiac by Gabrielle Zevin follows Naomi who falls down the stairs and looses all of the memories from the last six years of her life.  Her parents are divorced, she has a little sister and a boyfriend and social life she doesn't recognize at all.  Naomi has to figure out how to live a life she doesn't understand and decide which parts she wants to change.

This is a great book that I couldn't put down.  Naomi's journey is fascinating to read as she comes into herself.  She develops new friendships while trying to figure out her life.  The ending works well leaving the reader satisfied.

Appropriateness:   There's a bit of underage drinking (with disastrous results) and some talk of sex.  There are several discussions of mental illness and suicide.  I would recommend this book to readers 13+
