Feed (Newsflesh)

Zombies!!  Feed by Mira Grant follows Georgia a blogger living in a world that has been plagued with a virus that has turned most of the words occupants into zombies.  The virus which everyone has been exposed to causes the victim to reanimate upon death or after being fully infected through a bite or bloodeborn contact from a zombie.  This has led to a world of terrible isolation and excessive amounts of security.  Georgia and her brother Sean are chosen to follow a presidential candidate.  Numerous disasters happen and they have to solve the mystery as to who has been sabotaging the campaign.

The book starts out with a fantastic action sequence and then transforms into a political drama in a well thought out dystopian world.  The story is peppered with articles that are written by the bloggers to help the reader understand what they are thinking.  This combination of horror, dystopia and political drama make for a wildly entertaining and engrossing read.

Appropriateness:  This book seems to be written for a crossover audience of older teens.  The characters are in their early 20's and have adult like responsibilities which could be a turn off for younger teens.  There is a lot of zombie violence and strong language but nothing else that would disturb parents of younger teens that wanted to read the book.
